Mr. Fawwaz Al-Saeed is a highly reputed Kuwaiti attorney. He founded Al Markaz Law Firm in 1983 and currently oversees the operations of the Firm's departments, as well as assists many of Kuwaits leading financial institutions and corporations in various matters and aspects of law. He emphasizes his practice in corporate consultancy and commercial litigation, with a special emphasis on cases that involve the application of commercial law, corporate law, banking and Islamic finance. Mr. Al Saeed holds over 30 years of experience and has extensive experience in commercial transactions, alternative dispute resolution, and court proceedings before the highest courts of Kuwait. In 1997, Mr. Al Saeed was granted high professional recognition when elected as the President of Kuwait Bar Association , a position which he held for two successive yearly terms.

Recent Representative Legal Matters:

  • Assisted and advised a leading investment company with the issuance of Sukuk with a value of USD 200 million, while assuring all agreements were drafted in compliance with Shari'a principles.
  • Acted on behalf of a major investment company and successfully secured their application to restructure their debt worth KWD1.2 billion under the Financial Stability Law (Law no.2 of 2009). This entailed creating an extensive term debt restructuring plan that preserves the interests and rights of all company stakeholders. This case set precedent in Kuwait as the first case under the Financial Stability Law.
  • Assisted a renowned investment company with the amortization and settlement of debt with a banking entity, in accordance with Shari'a principles.
  • Successfully represented a well-known company in a claim for an unlawful termination of a real estate project with a value of KWD60 million against the Kuwaiti Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and secured a judgement in favour of the client, which required the project to be restored to the client and compelled the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to pay compensation.
