Practice Focus:

Mr. Al Sherif joined Al Markaz in September 2011 and is a Senior Associate in the firm's Corporate Advisory Department. He emphasizes his practice in civil, corporate and commercial legal consultancy, and has advised and represented numerous companies in matters involving capital markets law, civil law, corporate law, international trade law, real estate and property law, construction law, administrative law, intellectual property, and taxation law. He has unrivaled experience in companies and project's restructuring, merger and acquisitions, securities transactions and Sharia complaint finance structures and agreements. Mr. Al Sherif holds over 22 years of PQE between Egypt and Kuwait.

Recent Representative Legal Matters:

  • Acted as lead counsel on behalf of a major Saudi construction company in the multi-billion transaction of "Three biggest Rent Restructuring Operations" in the Gulf Area and the Middle East. This entailed drafting agreements such as rent agreements, marketing agreements, services agreements, agency agreements for both local and international agents, as well as Sukuk agreements.
  • Advised on the legal aspects of establishing the largest joint stock company in petrochemical industry in Kuwait, and in its KWD 110 million (USD $388 million) initial public equity offering, which was in cooperation with the Kuwaiti Government.
  • Advised a major four- and five-star hotel chain management in Kuwait on various legal aspects, including the drafting of operations and management agreements.
  • Acted on behalf of an investment company in initiating grievance procedures against the Capital Market Authority (CMA), challenging their decision of delisting the company from the Kuwait Stock Exchange. The award was in favor of the company and the decision has been reversed.
  • He has a broad ranging banking and finance practice, with a focus on advising on borrowers and lenders on Islamic and conventional finance transactions, Sharia complaint contracts and settlements.
